As much as I feel that I’m oh-so-past-ready for winter to be over and sun and warmth to fill my days, I’m finding it hard to believe that Spring may be actually here.

As I sit inside, the cloud cover these past few days of 75+ degree days is tricking me into believing it’s still cold out there. It surprised me today to read on Facebook that someone nearby was planning on “rockin the shorts and the flipflops.”

When I got out of bed this morning I put on my uniform of a brown sweater and jeans. So predictable! So drab!

February in Texas is nice but March and April are a sight to behold. It’s the wild flowers that claim the most attention and they deserve it, really they do. There are more varieties than I can name but I remember last year they began popping up in the beginning of March and if my memory serves me right we were still seeing beautiful color along the highways and byways into the beginning of June.

Each variety comes in waves. Of course, there’ll be stretches of blue as far as the eye can see while the Bluebonnets are showing their incredible faces. But first there are fields of pink, then purple and red. The Indian Paintbrush are fabulous. We’ll see so many different colors it just makes you smile as you drive anywhere in the Hill Country. God is really so wildly creative.

You won’t find me wearing any shorts in the immediate future. I will however be heading up stairs in a few minutes to get out of this sweater and dig out a more suitable t-shirt… and flipflops. Even if my big plans for the day are simply to walk up the driveway to get the mail.

I prayed long and hard to a good God, asking Him to pick me up and put me in a place such as this. I really should be showing Him my gratitude. There is nothing drab about our King and His daughter shouldn’t be attempting to rock the drab either.

Color, here I come!

Did you know that in Texas it can actually reach 77 degrees in January? Don’t worry this post will not be about weather. Well, not solely about the weather. I’ll only take up a paragragh, maybe two, concerning the perfection that is the Texas Hill Country in winter.

I can easily endure the few 30 something degree days I’ve experienced so far when they are interspersed among days like today. I actually had windows open and don’t get me started talking about how I sat on the back deck reading as the sun melted my cares away. Thank you, Lord Jesus was all I could verbalize and I did over and over again. I think He got the point.

Hmmm, that’s interesting. I find myself unable to think of anything but the weather now that I brought it up.

I guess if I’m going to keep my word I’ll just have to try writing a real post another day.
